IORA developed a region and context based decision support tool (DST) for the Department of Forest, Government of Maharashtra to undertake afforestation programmes with a positive impact on water conservation and runoff avoidance. The DST is easily accessible from tablets, smartphone or PC, laptop and has a backend server to store data. The key features of the DST were-
• Afforestation Parameters including species database
• Parameter specific spatial layers
• List of species suited for specific sites and conditions in Maharashtra
• Species centric digital afforestation plans for water conservation in all six divisions of Maharashtra
• Development of a mobile app (ADSS – Afforestation Decision Support System) for android and iPhone users and a WEP
