SLMC - Central Indian Landscape Coordinator

About the Job

IORA Ecological Solutions (“IORA”), a leading climate and conservation-focused organization, is looking for a passionate and diligent “Central Indian Landscape Coordinator” to assist in our landscape activities as part of its SLMC program. The position will be based in the field office of IORA/SLMC program in the Central Indian Landscape (Umaria or Tala).

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and assist in IORA’s SLMC field surveys in the landscape
  • Develop working relations with various stakeholders and coordinate with the forest department, committees, village panchayat, locals and other relevant stakeholders to conduct SLMC activities in the landscape
  • Gather information on existing value chains of the forest-based/agriculture produce and identify issues or challenges in the existing chains and identify local enterprises involved in purchase, value addition and sales of these products
  • Organise household surveys, FGDs, community consultations, stakeholder meetings and workshops
  • Mobilizing community for participation in community of practice for ecosystem services, Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES) schemes and other project activities
  • Design and assist in Socio-economic and livelihood surveys
  • Identify opportunities for enhancement of existing livelihoods, or alternate livelihoods
  • Undertake travel related to work
  • Develop data formats for field data collection and execution of primary data collection
  • Assist in dissemination of project related information to stakeholders
  • Identifying market linkages for the forest-based/agriculture products and work with local industries to scale up local production and sales in coordination with Partnerships Manager
  • Assist Partnerships Manager in setting up growth centres at regional level

Desired Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Master’s in Sociology/Social Works or equivalent, with minimum, 5-7 years of work experience in building partnerships and stakeholder engagement
  • Background in forestry/agriculture based livelihoods related projects, preferably in environment/ecology space
  • Strong interpersonal skills to coordinate with various level of stakeholders, with special focus on communities
  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative methods and analysis for sociological surveys etc.
  • Project management skills, strong communication skills for effective, efficient, and adaptive verbal and written communication, and attention to detail

About the Project:

The five-year USAID project will be implemented with the Government of India (GoI) to
enhance the management of ecological landscapes for biodiversity conservation, human well-
being and climate benefits, contributing to reduced greenhouse gas emissions, improved
carbon sequestration, and enhanced environmental benefits for the country. Through this
activity, USAID/India and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC)
will strengthen management practices in targeted landscapes by: (1) improving the
management of protected areas and their corridors for wildlife conservation and other
ecological benefits; (2) improving inclusive livelihoods from ecosystem services and (3)
strengthening the conditions for institutionalizing landscape conservation.

Responsibilities:

Investment Associate

About the Job :

Iora Ecological Solutions (“IORA”), a leading conservation finance organization, is hiring an Analyst / Associate to join the Investments team. Iora is currently raising a large fund to invest in Nature Climate Solutions (“NCS”) projects in India. The Analyst / Associate candidate will initially join Iora, then transition to the Fund entity once the fundraising process nears completion.

This is an opportunity to join a dynamic, highly experienced, and rapidly growing organization, with the additional opportunity of joining an NCS Fund at inception. The candidate will interact directly with CEO and CIO, and gain exposure to carbon markets, forestry, project finance, fund management, and financial structuring.

Responsibilities:

The primary duties of the candidate will be financial modeling. Additional duties will include communicating effectively across the organization and assisting in a range of investment process workstreams. The candidate will be based in Delhi and report to the CIO in New York. The candidate will also interface directly with the CEO in Delhi. The candidate will receive hands-on guidance from the CIO but will be expected to produce quality work with minimal supervision. This is an opportunity for motivated individuals to carve out a long-term career for themselves. A successful candidate will be eligible for promotion at the discretion of the CEO and CIO, pending performance. The candidate may also be eligible for stock option compensation, depending on experience.

Desired Qualifications:

  • A minimum 2-3 years Financial modeling experience and a solid grounding in fundamental financial concepts.
