Summary of expected role: Iora Ecological Solutions Pvt. Ltd. (Iora) is an India based leading developer of nature-based solutions and climate action programs, policies, and instruments. Iora has collaborated with UPC Renewables Asia Pacific Holdings Pte Ltd (UPC) in Philippines to develop a large scale Afforestation, Reforestation and Revegetation (ARR) and bioenergy carbon project which will serve as a national pilot to explore the opportunities of financing through carbon financing, specifically, Article 6 mechanism. The project aims to not only generate renewable energy but also enhance carbon sequestration potential, contributing to a carbon-neutral energy footprint in the country. In addition, IORA will also support UPC in assisting the Government of the Philippines in developing a national carbon market strategy under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. The project will facilitate the global export of carbon credits, focusing on the Japanese market through the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) established by the Governments of Philippines and Japan in 2017, and promote value-added bioenergy from natural resources, ensuring carbon-neutral energy solutions.
In view of this, we are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Project Manager to lead the coordination, implementation, and execution of key activities related to the carbon project and the development of national carbon market strategy for the Philippines. The role will involve close collaboration with the Carbon Team in New Delhi to advance the development of this project, ensuring all tasks are completed effectively and reported efficiently. In addition, the Project Manager will play a pivotal role in the development of the national carbon market strategy for the Philippines. This includes conducting comprehensive feasibility assessments to evaluate the alignment of the proposed internal carbon market with international mechanisms. The candidate will also analyse global best practices and the existing policy landscape in the Philippines to contribute to the conceptualization and regulatory framework of the national carbon market. Apart from this, stakeholder engagement and management will be critical, as the Project Manager will engage closely with the Philippines government to support the formulation of a robust national carbon market strategy. This position requires excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills to ensure the successful realization of project goals.
Areas of Accountability:
∙ Project Coordination: Coordinate all aspects of the projects, including logistical arrangements, stakeholder engagement, and resource allocation.
∙ Implementation and Execution: Oversee the timely and efficient execution of project activities, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
∙ Field Work: Conduct field visits to project sites for monitoring progress, gathering data, and addressing any challenges or issues that arise.
∙ Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including local communities, government agencies, NGOs, and project partners to ensure collaboration and support for project objectives.
∙ Policy advocacy: Knowledge of the regional policy landscape, ability to conduct research and engage in policy advocacy to gain momentum for climate change action.
∙ Business Development: Expand Iora’s network and clientele in and around the Philippines, develop market strategies and open avenues for bilateral trade agreements and collaborations. ∙ Proposal & Report Writing: Prepare proposals for clients and projects, prepare comprehensive reports on project progress and completion with timely reporting to the Delhi HO.
Required Qualification, Skills and Experience:
∙ Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Forestry, Natural Resource Management or related engineering or science subjects.
∙ At least five years’ experience in the Carbon Markets and policy development, with deep understanding of carbon market regulations and standards
∙ Experience in performing audits, data analysis, complex calculations, and drafting technical reports
∙ Proven experience in project management, preferably in the environmental sector. ∙ Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
∙ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
∙ Experience leading technical teams within sustainability and carbon advisory. ∙ Willingness to travel frequently including field visits and meetings with stakeholders. ∙ Proficiency in both English and Filipino is necessary.
∙ Commitment to environmental conservation and sustainability.

∙ This is a full-time, fixed-term position with the possibility of extension based on project requirements and performance.
