About the Job

IORA Ecological Solutions is looking to hire dynamic, energetic interns who are interested in the Forestry & Biodiversity sector. This is an exciting opportunity to learn about the Projects and work with the experts in the field.

The interns will be working closely with our team to conduct fieldwork, research, capture data, and coordinate with teams for project implementation.

Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility of these interns would be to assist in –

  • Questionnaire-based household surveys in the Nilgiris Landscape (current requirement for Kerala and Tamil Nadu)
  • Ecosystem services assessment (bio-physical)
  • Stakeholder identification among community and contact building
  • Support the team in conducting Focused Group Discussions with community
  • Collate, clean and analyze data as required
  • Any other research tasks assigned by IORA

Required skills include: 

  • Pursuing/completing/completed a Master’s degree in Forestry, Environmental Management, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Planning, or related disciplines from a reputed university/institute.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to coordinate with different state government officials.
  • Candidate must be fluent in spoken and written communication in Tamil, and/or Malayalam  language 
  • MUST carry an android based phone for app based data entry of Questionnaire surveys
  • Candidate should have experience working with MS Office (Doc, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and statistical software.

Desired Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Knowledge of ecosystem services concepts
  • Experience in conducting questionnaire based household surveys
  • Prior experience in the Central Indian Landscape will be an added advantage
