About the Job
IORA Ecological Solutions (“IORA”), a leading climate and conservation-focused organization, is looking for a passionate and visionary “Research Associate” to assist and support all activities of Forestry & Biodiversity vertical at IORA as part of the USAID Strengthening Landscape Management and Conservation (SLMC) project.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Design research methodologies, including secondary literature review and primary data collection on various aspects
- Statistical data analysis and preparation of reports to inform project design and activities
- Support implementation of various project activities, especially sustainable forest management and livelihood improvement initiatives.
- Support in community mobilization and engagement to foster participation in project activities.
- Facilitate organisation of workshops and capacity building trainings etc.
- Work closely with different stakeholders (government and non-government) for convergence.
- Contribute to project proposals and presentations and other project collaterals as required.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Natural Resources Management, Forestry, Rural Development, Livelihoods or other related fields with 2 years of experience in working with forest dependent communities in India.
- Strong qualitative and quantitative research skills.
- Understanding of community dynamics, cultural contexts, and the challenges faced by forest-dependent people.
- Committed to working for improving the lives of marginalized communities and participatory natural resources management.
- Knowledge of the major policies and issues impacting the conservation and management of the forest landscapes in India.
- Excellent communication skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to work in the field, travel and live in remote areas as per the requirement of the project.
