Job Title: Intern – Forestry & Biodiversity

IORA Ecological Solutions is looking for dynamic, energetic interns who are interested in the Forestry & Biodiversity sector. This is an exciting opportunity to learn about our projects and work with the experts in the field.
The interns will be working closely with our team to conduct fieldwork, research, capture data, and coordinate with teams for project implementation.
Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility of these interns would be to assist in –
- Fieldwork in the forests of Nilgiris spanning 3 states (Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnatakas)
- Data collection on carbon, water, other ecosystem services, and remote sensing
- Conduct forest biomass, biodiversity, and ecological assessments
- Data analysis, Report writing, and other project collaterals
- Literature review on related topics
- Collate and analyse data as required
- Any other research tasks assigned by IORA (desk-based).
Desired Qualifications, Skills, and Experience.
- Pursuing or completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Forestry, Botany, Ecology, Biodiversity, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Management or related disciplines from a reputed University/Institute.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to coordinate with team members and local communities
- Experience working with MS Office (Doc, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Excellent plant identification skills
- Working knowledge of one of the languages Tamil, Malyalam, Kannada is desirable.
