About the Job
IORA Ecological Solutions (“IORA”), a leading climate and conservation-focused organization, is looking for a passionate and diligent “Central Indian Landscape Coordinator” to assist in our landscape activities as part of its SLMC program. The position will be based in the field office of IORA/SLMC program in the Central Indian Landscape (Umaria or Tala).
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and assist in IORA’s SLMC field surveys in the landscape
- Develop working relations with various stakeholders and coordinate with the forest department, committees, village panchayat, locals and other relevant stakeholders to conduct SLMC activities in the landscape
- Gather information on existing value chains of the forest-based/agriculture produce and identify issues or challenges in the existing chains and identify local enterprises involved in purchase, value addition and sales of these products
- Organise household surveys, FGDs, community consultations, stakeholder meetings and workshops
- Mobilizing community for participation in community of practice for ecosystem services, Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES) schemes and other project activities
- Design and assist in Socio-economic and livelihood surveys
- Identify opportunities for enhancement of existing livelihoods, or alternate livelihoods
- Undertake travel related to work
- Develop data formats for field data collection and execution of primary data collection
- Assist in dissemination of project related information to stakeholders
- Identifying market linkages for the forest-based/agriculture products and work with local industries to scale up local production and sales in coordination with Partnerships Manager
- Assist Partnerships Manager in setting up growth centres at regional level
- Provide support to the project management team(s), support senior team members in meetings, sessions, and follow-ups, and prepare notes, achieving project deliverables
Desired Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- Master’s in Sociology/Social Works or equivalent, with minimum, 5-7 years of work experience in building partnerships and stakeholder engagement
- Background in forestry/agriculture based livelihoods related projects, preferably in environment/ecology space
- Strong interpersonal skills to coordinate with various level of stakeholders, with special focus on communities
- Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative methods and analysis for sociological surveys etc.
- Project management skills, strong communication skills for effective, efficient, and adaptive verbal and written communication, and attention to detail
- Experience in organising stakeholder consultations
- Experience working in the field (community interaction, data collection etc.)
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in challenging circumstances
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office Suite
