Responsibilities:

  1. Identification of new opportunities:
    1. New RFPs/RFQs/EOIs/Request for Empanelment
    2. Collaborate with the technical experts at IORA in developing new concept notes and pitch presentation for potential donors
    3. Creating and updating a roster of potential donors and their focus areas which are relevant to IORA’s work
  2. Proposal Development and Submission:
    1. Supporting in preparation of concept notes, presentations and EOIs
    2. Preparation of Description sheets for shortlisted calls in IORA’s prescribed format
    3. Identification of resource need for a proposal – staffing, budget and timeline
    4. Analysing the RFPs thoroughly and listing out all required mandatory documentations and conditions to support the respective technical team in ensuring proper & timely submission as per the client’s requirements
    5. Drafting and compilation of Bidding documents
    6. Ensure proper formatting, editing and printing as per IORA’s branding guidelines and in line with the requirements of the client

Desired Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Job Title: Senior Research Associate – RS-GIS

Job Location: New Delhi with frequent travels to Forest Survey of India, Dehradun

Duration: One Year (* Likely to be extended based on the Project Requirement). 

About the Job:

Michigan State University (MSU) is seeking an Senior Research Associate (SRA) to support a new research project in India. This is a full time position and the RA will be an MSU employee under a personal services contract. The person will be based in New Delhi at the office of IORA Ecological Solutions. The work will be carried out under supervision of a senior scientist at MSU and under direction of a senior scientist at IORA, working in a collaborative team environment.

Michigan State University is working in collaboration with the Forest Survey of India (FSI) and IORA Ecological Solutions on a NASA funded project – “New Transitions in Smallholder Agricultural Systems that Promote Increased Tree Cover Outside of Forests (TOF)”. The project looks at factors driving the trend towards increasing biomass in systems of TOF in India to ascertain if there is a correlation between increase in tree cover and high financial valuation of Ecosystem Services. This project will quantitatively examine the notion of increasing TOF in smallholder agriculture landscapes of India. It will provide an important and representative example in Asia, with a focus on detection and measurement over landscapes and regions. The project will also look into the farmer processes that promote increase in TOF in smallholder agriculture systems.

To support this project work and collaboration with the teams in all three participating institutions, we are looking for a skilled subject matter specialist with a background and interest in geospatial sciences and an extensive field experience in surveys and validation of remote sensing outputs. Programing and script building experience is also highly desirable.

Position Overview

The role involves working with colleagues across cohorts, providing analytical expertise and insights using appropriate spatial modeling tools and methods and lead the field activities for validation of the outputs. S/He should demonstrate innovative work in the field of remote sensing as evidenced by high-quality publications, and a record of accomplishment for innovations. Candidate must also be able to collaborate effectively with other researchers in the participating institutions.

Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate joint activities with MSU, FSI and IORA Ecological Solutions..
  2. Coordinate and lead fieldwork activities during the project duration – validation of the TOF data products including both field as well as lab based, using various proxy datasets that includes Google Earth Images and other high-resolution datasets.
  3. Coordinate field data collection for remote sensing validation and for key informant interviews and community surveys.
  4. Develop and use software libraries to process large datasets that are available publicly and in private domains.
  5. Work with project teams to assess and organize complex data assets from a variety of sources for spatial modelling, especially coordination with FSI to acquire Indian satellite remote sensing data.
  6. Research and implement machine and reinforcement learning models that connect fundamental engineering properties to efficient designs.
  7. Coordinate the collection of field survey data for modelling ecosystem services valuation.

Desired Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  1. Masters Degree in Geoinformatics/ Remote Sensing/ Geography/ Environmental Science/ Forestry/ Agriculture or Earth Sciences.
  2. Minimum of 4-5 years’ of verifiable experience in leading & participating in research projects utilizing up-to-date, High-resolution optical data, Hyperspectral Data and SAR data in GIS industry or research institutions.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist with day to day operations of the HR functions and duties
  2. Provide clerical and administrative support to Human Resources processes
  3. Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records and documentation.4.
  4. Maintains employee information by entering and updating employment and status-change data
  5. Coordinate HR projects (scheduling appointments, meetings, maintaining records and information.
  6. Assist in payroll preparation by providing relevant data (joining, absences, leave, Exit etc)
  7. Coordinate communication with candidates and schedule interviews
  8. Assist project managers to source candidates and update recruitment database
  9. Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications, Skills, and Experience and Competencies:

  1. Graduate or Post Graduate Degree in Human Resources with 5-6 years of post-qualification experience in Human Resources department
  2. Strong understanding of MS Office including MS Word, PowerPoint and MS Excel
  3. Organized, meticulous and attention to detail are essential
  4. Ability to meet deadlines
  5. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
