Job Title: Programmer/ Application Developer

Job Location: New Delhi

About the Job:

IORA is looking to hire a qualified, self-motivated, enterprising and hardworking individual adept at application development for the post of Programmer/Application and Web Developer. The person should have excellent knowledge of web-coding and programming languages, Content Management Systems (CMS), knowledge of UI and UX, be familiar with a variety of operating systems and platforms and be able to code functional programs and applications. He/she will work as part of a team and individually with little supervision. The ideal candidate should have an analytical mind-set and a keen eye for detail.

The goal is to develop a seamlessly functioning website with excellent UI and UX, write “clean” and flawless code to produce fully functional software applications according to requirements. The work requires a strong understanding of the different computer languages that can be used in application development. Job tasks may include working in teams, testing applications and designing prototype applications. Demonstrated knowledge in the area of technology critical in the integration and development of Mobile Applications, Web Applications and a thorough understanding of coding in SQL, ArcGIS, Python, JavaScript, etc. Demonstrated knowledge in JavaScript/ Python/ PHP/ Ruby/ HTML and CSS. Academic Background:

A Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in computer science or related fields with minimum 2 years of experience in programming/web development.

Responsibilities: 

  1. Develop a seamlessly functioning website as well as contribute towards capability enhancement of geospatial data analysis portal with excellent UI and UX.
  2. Develop an effective and user-friendly backend
  3. Understand client requirements and how they translate in application features
  4. Collaborate with the team to set specifications for new applications
  5. Design creative prototypes according to specifications
  6. Write high quality source code to program complete applications within deadlines
  7. Perform unit and integration testing before launch
  8. Conduct functional and non-functional testing
  9. Troubleshoot and debug applications
  10. Evaluate existing applications to reprogram, update and add new features
  11. Develop technical documents and handbooks to accurately represent application design and code

  2. Lead teams in field data collection and assessment of forest biomass, biodiversity, and ecology
  3. Oversee socio-economic data collection
  4. Develop landscape specific conservation strategies and interventions
  5. Collate and analyse data as required
  6. Carry out due diligence of forestry and conservation projects including suitable methodologies, success factors, and pitfalls
  7. Measure carbon content across different landscapes and forests
