Job Title: Regional Director, Forest-PLUS: forest for water and prosperity (Forest-PLUS 2.0)

Job Location: Telangana

About the Job: IORA Ecological Solutions Pvt. Ltd. (IORA) headquartered in New Delhi, India is currently
accepting applications for the post of Regional Director- Telangana, for the Forest-PLUS:
forest for water and prosperity (Forest-PLUS 2.0) program. Forest-PLUS 2.0 is a USAID
program implemented by IORA in partnership with Tetra tech ARD with the goal to improve
management of targeted forest landscapes in India for enhanced ecosystem services and
increased inclusive economic opportunities. The position is based at Hyderabad, Telangana.

Responsibilities:

  • Liaise and work closely with the Forest Department at the state and division levels for effective implementation of the Program activities in the target landscape
  • Contribute to the development of state/landscape strategies and develop state level work plan
  • Build rapport and coordinate with key stakeholder groups such as local communities, NGOs and various government departments/ agencies for effective implementation of the Program activities at the landscape level
  • Assist in implementation of baseline surveys, studies and assessments related to ecosystem management as required under different components of the program
  • Identify and develop potential village-based organizations/ persons for active engagement with the Program
  • Assist in landscape management planning and revision of Forest Department Working Plans with a focus on ecosystem services
  • Provide support in development of natural resource-based value chains and promote community-based enterprises
  • Coordinate with forest training institute and other govt. agencies to organize and facilitate training programs for staff, especially women, from State Forest Departments and other govt. departments, community members and different stakeholder groups
  • Facilitate meetings and workshops at the state and landscape level
  • Provide field-level coordination of pilots designed under the Program
  • Translate key documents collected from the landscape as well Program generated documents between English and selected regional language[s]
  • Support the development and dissemination of communication materials developed under the Program (after translation where appropriate) to target audience groups within the landscape
  • Attend various Program-related meetings and providing inputs into different reports and communications materials, as required.
  • Identify and develop success stories under the Program as ‘case studies’ for wider dissemination
  • Provide logistical support to other Program team members and partners during field visits to the landscape

Desired Skills and experience:

  • Graduate or Post-graduate degree in Natural Resource Management or Forestry required.
  • At least five years of progressively-responsible work experience for holders of Master’s degree and seven years for holders of Bachelor’s degree, out of which at least three years should be at a field location (district or lower administrative unit)
  • Good understanding of the local forestry/ NRM issues and rural socio-economic context required.
  • Self-driven with ability to organize work with minimal day-to-day supervision
  • Good communication skills and ability to connect with diverse audience

Job Title: Senior Manager (Programmer/Analyst) – GIS

Job Location: New Delhi

About the Job: IORA is looking to hire a self-motivated, enterprising and hardworking individual expert at GIS coding  who shares our passion for the environment, for the post of Senior Manager (Programmer/Analyst) – GIS as part of our recently commenced USAID Forest-PLUS 2 Program. The work involves analysis, development, programming, implementation and maintenance of software solutions and related systems designed to increase productivity, workflow, capabilities, efficiency and effectiveness of IORA’s programs, services and administration. Work involves meeting with users, analyzing and defining system needs, developing software programs and applications and implementing, documenting and maintaining applications and associated systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Confer with forest departments, MOEFCC staff and other users and GIS team members to discuss requirements and solutions; write system and program specifications and develop technical architectures
  • Web mapping – interactively displaying, processing or analyzing spatial content online
  • Develop, test, debug and maintain an array of custom web-based GIS applications, tools and supporting web services using standard software life Python, C++, etc.
  • Write and modify GIS applications, scripts, databases, and system changes.
  • With close supervision, assist in the design, development, implementation, and support of Geographic Information System (GIS) applications, supporting systems, and databases.
  • Design and develop spatial and non-spatial databases and DBMSs
  • Create and maintain system related documentation. Create user manuals and reports
  • Troubleshoot application errors, research and analyze correction strategies, help with networks and help desk requests as needed

Lead Surveyor

Location: New Delhi

Salary: Based on experience

Lead surveyor will be responsible to lead and supervise the field team to carry out the survey and interviews. He/ she will carry out an important task of collecting and delivering first- hand information from the respondent groups ensuring that the data is complete, accurate, consistent, and all the questionnaires are adequately completed and submitted.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implementation of surveys in the field of geospatial analysis, forestry and biodiversity.
  • Support in design of surveys plans including defining requirements, tasks, and resource mobilization, while ensuring that appropriate quality levels and deadlines are met
  • Plan, direct and co-ordinate the duties of the Survey teams to collect geospatial data relevant to the shape, contour, location, elevation, or dimension of land or land features for mapmaking.
  • Lead teams in the collection of Forestry or other Natural resource inventory preparation
  • Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.

Desired Skills and experience:

  • 10-12 years of experience in geospatial or other geological surveys, forestry inventory.
  • Has operational knowledge of various measurement and survey equipment.

  • Should be familiar with data discrepancies and QAQC checks.
