Job Title: Manager- Agriculture Partnerships and Value Chains

Job Location: New Delhi

About the Job:

Iora Ecological Trust (Iora) is looking to engage an experienced executive to support and oversee projects across relevant agriculture and biodiversity related components. The position offers a chance to be part of a team working towards the development and implementation of climate smart agricultural practices and interventions, and contribute to the sustainable development of the country’s agriculture sector. A major component of the job initially will be to develop partnerships with private sector players in the agriculture space, including stakeholders in the agriculture cold-chain, for FarmerZone™, a Department of Biotechnology led initiative to develop a cloud-based service that offers curated data solutions for smallholder farmers leading to improved farm productivity and market connectivity. The job will require travel, and will be a mix of office based and field work with opportunities to work in some of the most diverse areas in the country. Initially the job will focus on the agriculture sector but may be expanded to include other areas as well, as and when the need arises.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop strategic partnerships and collaborations with different private sectors players in the agriculture and related sectors including large agribusinesses, data technology providers, startups developing profitable market linkages, input suppliers, cold chain providers, etc.
  2. Provide technical leadership on agriculture related projects, across different tasks including project management, planning, execution of field operations and related activities
  3. Provide input in the development of methodologies and design of studies related to agriculture and allied sectors
  4. Develop and write agriculture based project proposals for diverse funding organizations
  5. Interact across teams and provide assistance to client and counterpart organizations to ensure effective project implementation
  6. Manage research associates and field technicians
  7. Develop, contribute to and carry out analytical and advisory activities on agriculture related studies
  8. Interact with state and central governments, institutions, social enterprises and other key partner organizations across geographies

Desired Skills & Experience:

  1. Knowledge of current trends and issues in agricultural policy, agriculture biodiversity, food security and farmer welfare
  2. Experience of developing partnerships with the private sector for sustainability related issues
  3. An understanding of the end-to-end value chain of agriculture and agri markets
  4. Strong understanding of the functioning of the private sector in the agriculture space
  5. An understanding of the agriculture cold-chain and its key stakeholders
  6. Communication, analytical, writing, and interpersonal skills
  7. Excellent team management skills
  8. Demonstrated ability to work flexibly on a range of assignments and to prioritize among a variety of evolving tasks with attention to detail
  9. Demonstrated ability to effectively provide professional support to management, including working with diverse teams
  10. Ability to work in challenging circumstances
  11. Willingness to solve research problems with creative thinking

Qualification:

Master’s degree in agriculture or associated fields, with minimum five years’ experience of working on agriculture value chain development projects and of building partnerships with agri-related private sector players. NGO/ CSO/ Donor organisation experience preferred.

Job Title: Manager- Renewable Energy  

Job Location: New Delhi

About the Job: IORA is looking to hire a self-motivated, enterprising and hardworking individual with a passion for forestry and conservation for the post of Manager- Renewable Energy. The role involves development, management and implementation of IORA’s Decentralized Renewable Energy projects with a special focus on energy provision and security in forest fringe areas. The job is a good mix of office-based and outdoor work with exciting opportunities to work in some of the most diverse forest and biodiversity areas in the country.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop strategy for implementation of DRE related policy advisory, financing and field implementation projects 
  • Oversee project design and planning, engagements with key stakeholders including government officials, technology companies, investors, financiers, CSOs and end user communities
  • Oversee socio- economic data collection and analysis 
  • Carry out due diligence for technology suitability, financial viability etc.  
  • Oversee mapping and ecological analysis of sites to analyse fuel availability etc. 
  • Develop project reports, presentations, briefs, etc. including analysis of surveyed data, review and evaluation of state schemes and implementation processes, and recommendations
  • Lead the developing of new project proposals in the DRE area
  • Presentations at conferences, client sites 

Desired Skills and experience:

  • Knowledge of DRE finance, policy and implementation
  • Prior experience in overseeing installation of DRE Projects/ Microgrids, preferably across different agro ecological zones of India
  • Prior experience of working across DRE technologies
  • Prior experience of working on DRE project finance, including microfinance, development finance, project investments
  • Prior experience of working in / supervising work in remote areas
  • Proficiency in report writing and documentation with a credible publication record is necessary
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with technical and operational team both
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems using a whole systems approach and creative thinking. 

Qualification:

Master’s degree in Energy, Environmental or related fields with relevant work experience of 7-10 years.

The ideal candidate should possess a track record of generating content that would increase reader engagement. He/she must possess excellent communication skills (written and oral) and must have the ability to use data driven insights to write better material. Must be a self-starter and be committed to meeting tight deadlines. Preference  will be given to those with a background and passion for environment and social sciences.

Key responsibilities:

Support senior team members to edit, proof read reports and briefs

Create content for social media posts, website and other outreach platforms under the tutelage of a senior team member

Writing and editing technical briefs

Desired Qualification, Skills and experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Sciences/ Sciences/ Social Sciences/ Journalism

Expert knowledge of MS office suit

Experience in editing work at senior school/ college/ post graduate level
